"Fighting Temeraire" hailed as Turner's most famous work was completed in 1838. He did not sell this painting in his life time although a price as high as 5000 pounds was said to be offered. It now hangs in the National Gallery, London

Created by Turner in 1844, legend has it that Turner had put his head out of the window of a moving train while it was raining to watch the effects to execute the painting. Spot the hare running away from the speeding train.

Originals of this and the next two of J.M.W.Turner's paintings "The Thames Near Windsor", "The Thames at Eton" and "Chichester Canal'' are in Petworth House,once the home of the Lord Ergemont, a keen collector of Turner's works. Turner was a regular guest of Petworth House (now a National Trust property) where a studio was set up for him to paint his works.

Brighton is a popular sea resort in south England. The painting which was originally commisioned by Lord Ergemont and painted in 1829 shows the view of the recently erected Royal Suspension Chain Pier.

This and the next two paintings were based on the scenes captured by Turner during his many visits to Europe. "On the Upper Rhine", "View along the Alpine Valley" and "The Falls of Terni" were painted in 1820, 1836 and 1817 respectively in water colour.

This narrowest part of the River Rhine in Germany as captured through the eyes of Turner. In 2017 Gek found herself standing at the same spot where Turner sketched this scene in water colour two hundred years ago. Not much change except that the boats powered by sails in the old days are now replaced by modern cruise ships.
